Land Of The Largest Fountain

Dayton Ohio is truely home to an amazing place to experience Stand Up Paddleboarding (SUP).  Three rivers come to a confluence in downtown Dayton Ohio.  At the confluence of these rivers, the city of Dayton has created a fountain of incredible magnitude.

The fountains shoot from opposite shores of the river towards the center of the river.  In the center of the river the main fountain spout shoots straight up hundreds of feet.

The rivers have slow moving current with mild rapids.  In the area of the fountains the water depth is usually a couple feet deep, but in some places it gets as shallow as just a couple inches deep.  We were riding on Stride Airlites which worked out really well.  The Airlite is a inflable board that is very durable and it has a super strong fin set up that will take can take a hit from a rock.  Go here for more information about the Stride Airlite.

The fountains of Dayton Ohio are truely an amazing place to paddle.  There are more pictures posted in the Board Riders Gallery here.  Special thanks to an amazing photographer, Simon Robinson for taking these photos of this experience so that the beauty could be shared.

Whitewater Warehouse is a Stride Dealer in near downtown Dayton.  This paddlesports shop has a fleet of demo boards that anyone can try out.  Whitewater Warehouse is also just about a mile upstream from the fountains so if you want to experience stand up paddling on a Stride Airlite make sure to contact: Whitewater Warehouse at Kayakdayton.com.
