The Neuse River in North Carolina is a calm slow moving river in most places. The section shown in the pictures below are of a whitewater part of the Neuse that is a few miles long and it is just below the Falls Lake Dam. This part of the river is home to whitewater that is packed with surf waves that make for good surfing. This stretch of river is for more experienced paddlers and it is a must to where a life jacket and a helmet.

Paddlesurfing on the Neuse is not very common right now because there is not a stand up paddling community there yet. Most Stand Up Boards are composite and fragile and would not be practical for use on the Neuse River because of the risk of breaking on a rock would be inevitable. The Stride Suprise model is inflatable and really durable which makes it perfect for the Neuse River. The board can take hit after hit and the fins are super durable as well.

The local fisherman were blown away by the Stand Up Paddling. They looked on like an alien had landed from outer space and was walking around on the surface of the water.

Heading downstream for some more whitewater. The Neuse has a few miles of whitewater downstream of the Fall Lake Dam.
